It is very possible that ink continues to flow out the print head, as it sounds like you have overfilled it. The sponge material only holds so much ink, and any excess will flow to the bottom and out the print head. It becomes a problem for the end user when the ink forms on the exterior of the print head and blocks the ink being shot out as part of the print job. Remove the cartridge and place it on a piece of newspaper or something similar. The head should not be making contact with the paper. Check it in a few minutes to see if ink has drained from the print head. If it is forming on the head, carefully blot the ink with a very soft paper product such as a kleenex. Do not rub the head. When the ink stops forming drops on the head stop blotting and try printing again. BTW You have not damaged your printer by recycling the cartridges.
