I have a new HP 8450 that uses PhotoREt Pro, HP’s patented color layering technology, is the foundation for my printer’s 8-ink printing system. PhotoREt Pro enables my Photosmart to produce up to 72.9 million different ink combinations per visual pixel... This technology layers up to 32 ultra small (4-5 pico-liter-sized) ink drops within a single dot and uses proprietary halftoning algorithms to intelligently distribute all of the different ink layer combinations the printer is capable of printing. By precisely controlling the amount of ink applied at each print position, PhotoREt Pro delivers smoother gradations between tones for virtually grain-free images. The R&D that goes into the ink is what really makes a great printer. I just find it hard to believe that a re-man can do the same as the OEM. What about the printheads? That is a big deal. When you refill are you replacing the printheads? |
