1) I use the printer to print out price sheet we give customers. Our price sheet cover much more than 5%, and honestly I pay no attention to the page counts. We a color runs dry we fill it. The cost per print is so low I have not bothered to keep track. 2) The print heads will breakdown over time. Even though the print head is separate it still uses heat to deliver the ink, this will eventually ruin the printheads. I do know how long they will last, not had them go bad yet. The life will also depend upon how you use the printer. Continuously printing a lot of pages will place high heat on the heads for an extended period of time. I have to believe this will shorten the life of the print heads. As for replacing them, I have not actually priced a replacement printhead, but I would guess they cost enough that replacing the printer would make more since. As for the carts, as I stated, I have filled these at least a dozen times, the black probably much more than that. The carts are holding up just fine with no end in sight. I am sure they eventually give out, but I will defiantly get my money’s worth. If filled properly, leaking is not a problem. The key is resealing the fill hole you will make in the tank side. If you do get it sealed the cart will leak. 3) I would recommend using quality ink. The big issue to watch for is color bleeding and dry times. Keep in mind that the paper makes a huge difference. Cheap paper will give cheap prints. For example, the other day I printed up a bunch of cards on perforated card stock. I only had a few sheets of good Avery paper, when that ran out I bought so Stapes brand card stock. The print on the Avery stock looked great, the print on the cheaper Staples stock bled very badly. Moral is to test different papers to find what works best with the ink you are using. > Michael, > > Thanks for the reply! I just picked up this printer (canon i560) and I'm simply amazed at how fast and quite it is... and with such great quality. > > A few questions if you don't mind: > > 1) What kind of printing do you do and how many pages do your carts cover? Canon said 300 - 750 at 5%, but I'm not sure I believe them. Any ideas how many 8.5 x 11 photos one could print with each refill? > 2) Since these have the heads built into the printer, how do you know when it is time to get a new cartride / tank? Does the sponge come apart, stop holding ink, leaks??? > 3) With the dye based inks, how careful do I have to be with the quality of ink I put in these carts? > Thanks in advance, and Happy Refilling! > > It seems that this will be an easy cartride to refill > > > The Canon i560 is an great choice - this is the same printer we use for our in store printing (I have a refill\remanufacturingbusiness). They are easy to fill and can be refilled many times. Our current set of Canon carts have been filled at least a dozen times with no end in sight. |
