Xerox Workcentre 470cx with 8R7881 and Red light

I can't clear the "ALL CART. EMPTY" LCD error message. I tried refilling the cartridge without success. Then, I purchased and inserted a NEW black 8R7881 cartridge which cleared it for about 10 printouts (LCD changed to "(L) CART. EMPTY"), but then "ALL CART. EMPTY" came back!!! I also tried cleaning all copper contacts, clearing memory in tech mode, making sure ribbon cables are tightly inserted, etc. With this red light ON, I am NOT able to print any incoming faxes (stuck in memory.) However, I am STILL able to print anything from the computer with same cartridge - which proves that the cartridge is GOOD and FULL of ink.

My color cartridge 8R7880 has not been changed for 2 yrs.
years because I only need black&white.

Somehow, an erroneous 'EMPTY cart.' signal is being transmitted from 8R7881 cartridge to printer. I never had this problem with old cartridge 8R7879. It could be refilled many times without red lights.
I have also tried soaking the cartridges on a moist pad for 10 minutes without success. Again, they will print out any the computer submits with excellent quality, but will NOT allow any incoming faxes to be printed (Red light always ON.)
QUESTION: Does the 8R7881 cartridge have a memory chip which limits the number of printouts? The old cartridge 8R7879 could be refilled infinitely without this problem.

I suspect that XEROX incorporated 'memory' into these
cartridges to prevent refilling so that they can boost
sales of new cartridges.

Does anyone have a schematic of the 8R7881 film so that I can disable the empty cartridge signal? Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Again, I have the cleaned the contants and print head
numerous times without success.
