I think that the first refill the sponge is soaking up the ink and when i go to refill a second time its always less, i believe the sponge is full yet will not drop last of the ink but hung up in the sponge, i believe that most of the ink that is put in by hp is soaked up in the sponge, many of the 56 and were 3/4 full when sent to us for refill, i have returned more than half back without refilling because it was still mostly full. when the customer was asked why they took it out they said the computer said to take it out , it was near empty, have anyone else found them mostly full? another way for hp to make money, telling them its empty when indeed it was 3/4 full , interesting isnt it?

Yianni has prepared an excellent study which seems to indicate that HP may be using an ink of a different density - or possibly filling the cart with a few extra ml's. What ever the case may be, I think that replacement sponge material will be necessary for the proper recycling of this cart.

I am testing some replacement foam and if it works will report the source.
