Since the red stopped before it was showing empty and before I tried refilling it, and I didn't do anything else to it, it must have been defective or something? New cartridges just stop like that? I mean it wasn't one I'd had for months and been refilling and didn't even take it out since I put it in. Doesn't seem like anything I did or could have done to prevent it. Just one of those things? Next month I will get another new one, and also want to find a place to buy (affordable but good) a syringe and bottles of ink. This seems to be the most economical way of doing it. Instead of the "kits". With my other computer I bought one that had a plastic syringe and a small bottle of ink. Even that wasn't too easy, one time I was pushing the ink in and the needle part blew off, spraying ink all over everything (and me). It did wash off though (my daughter's wedding was the next week and I thought I would be going with my neck and face spotted black LOL) ~ Carrie Hi Carrie, > > This is correct, the cartridge is burned out.......when you get a good blot test, but no print, this is a good indication. Also some HP cartridges, get an air block, but being yours is lexmark, i don't think that is the problem. I second the mostion on it being burned out. > > > I just refilled the color cartridge (Lexmark 5150)because the red had stopped working (as of today) and I thought it was out. The guage said "ink low" but there were still 2 bars left on the icon. It was a new cartridge. > > > I refilled it carefully, and know I did it correctly. I could hold it under the light and see what colors went where. The paper napkin it was sitting on showed color from all three colors (from the ink head). The red ink is in there and coming out. > > > It's just not coming out when I print. The test page comes out black, white, yellow and a turquoise on some pages and green on others. When I make a square that is just red and print it, it comes out yellow. I know I didn't put yellow ink in where red goes! And if I had, I don't think it would be clear yellow. > > > I've printed test pages and nozzle cleaning pages, and it still doesn't work. > > > The Lexmark instructions say if it's not printing right, to put a damp cloth against the print head for a few seconds, then blot or wipe dry. I have tried this (the ink is coming out,it's not blocked) > > > The red wasn't working before I refilled it, so I don't think it's from that. It was working yesterday, so it didn't run out of red ink and sit there for very long. > > > Any ideas? > > > I had an old Canon BJC-250 printer that came with my first computer in 1998, that just died a few months ago (why I bought the Lexmark,(all in one) which was recommended by several people, and I got (new) from an Amazon seller for $68 (including shipping and cord) > > > I used to refil the Canon cartridges (only the black ones)and seems like (overall) the cartridges were bigger and lasted a lot longer than these Lexmark ones. > > > Of course, the reason the printers are so "affordable" they make money off people buying the cartridges every month. > > > Don't mind me, I've just had a few weeks of something not working on any given day (LOL) > > > ~ Carrie > > > > Hi Carrie.
